probelocal

Our Mission & Team

Providing structured, neutral analysis on the evolving cybersecurity landscape for connected vehicles, from threat vectors to regulatory compliance.

Our History

probelocal was established to address a critical gap in public understanding of automotive cybersecurity. As vehicles transformed into complex, connected systems, the discourse required a source dedicated to technical, regulatory, and analytical perspectives without commercial bias.

Our work began with in-depth examinations of early telematics units and cellular modem vulnerabilities, evolving to cover the full spectrum of in-vehicle networks, secure boot processes, and industry standards like ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE R155. We focus on the intersection of engineering, policy, and real-world security.

Our Mission

To deliver professional, journalistic analysis that clarifies the threat landscape for modern automobiles. We examine attack surfaces—from remote exploits via infotainment systems to physical intrusions on Controller Area Networks (CAN)—and the corresponding defenses.

Our content is structured to inform security engineers, academic researchers, and regulators. We avoid speculative claims and focus on documented case studies, penetration testing methodologies, and the lifecycle management of security updates, fostering cooperation across the automotive ecosystem.
